Tod Colegrove

Patrick "Tod" Colegrove began serving as Dean of Library Services in July 2026. An experienced academic library leader, educator, and technologist, he is committed to advancing libraries as dynamic centers for learning, discovery, innovation, and community engagement. Throughout his career, he has championed experiential learning, emerging technologies, and collaborative partnerships that support student success and faculty research.

Prior to joining Cal Poly, Tod served as dean of Albertsons Library at Boise State University, where he led strategic initiatives to strengthen library services, expand support for students and faculty, enhance library facilities, and integrate artificial intelligence literacy into undergraduate education. Previously, he served as Nevada State Librarian and directed the transformation of the DeLaMare Science and Engineering Library at the University of Nevada, Reno, into a nationally recognized hub for makerspaces, emerging technologies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands-on learning.

As an active contributor to the library profession, Tod has held leadership roles with the American Library Association, the Nevada Library Association, and the Association of College and Research Libraries. He is a frequent national and international speaker, author, and peer reviewer whose scholarship focuses on library leadership, innovation, makerspaces, and emerging technologies in higher education.

A first-generation college graduate, Tod's connection to Cal Poly began as an FFA member competing on campus in dairy cattle judging. He earned bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in physics from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a master's degree in library and information science from Drexel University.
