After preliminary registration, you will need to deliver payment to the Solano Campus Cashier's Office (Administration Building, room 18) and provide a copy of your receipt so the account can be finalized.
- Students only may pay their fines online using CASHNet through the Cal Poly portal.
- Patrons other than students can pay their fines by cash or check at the State Cashier (Administration Building, Room 131E). To remove a fine as quickly as possible, email an image of your receipt to circulation@calpoly.edu.
Overdue Fines
- When materials are not returned by the specified due date, overdue charges will accrue. Overdue charges and other fines are cumulative. They are not erased at the end of a term or academic year. Once your account shows charges of $10.00 or more, you will be required to pay the entire amount before renewing or checking out any materials.
- Fines may result in an academic hold placed on students’ accounts. All charges must be paid to release this hold. Failure to pay these charges may suspend borrowing privileges and delay registration.
Fine procedures for lost, damaged, or materials returned with missing components
- Patrons are responsible for returning materials they have checked out. Items must be returned in the condition they were received and include all components.
- Patrons will be billed for lost or damaged library materials, and for items returned with missing components. A notice is emailed, and library privileges are suspended until library charges are cleared. In addition, an academic hold may be placed on the records of current and former Cal Poly students. The suspension and/or hold remain in effect until all library charges are cleared.
- A patron billed for a lost or damaged item or item with missing components has several choices to clear their record:
- Return the item or the missing components. (Let staff know that you are returning materials that have been marked lost or missing so any academic holds can be removed.)
- Pay the replacement fee as billed.
- Email circulation@calpoly.edu and request to purchase a replacement. If approved, when you purchase the replacement and pay a $15 processing fee, the hold will be cleared from your account.

Requests From Other Libraries
The Kennedy Library Interlibrary Loan department facilitates access to materials not available within our licensed subscriptions and collections. Requests are charge-free for Cal Poly students, staff, faculty, and emeritus.
- Delivery Timeframes: Most journal articles are delivered via email as PDF files. Generally, this takes between 1-3 days, though some items may take longer.
- Borrowing Timeframes: Books and other tangible materials borrowed from other libraries have limited borrowing periods and renewals may not be possible. For this reason, borrowing assigned textbooks or books needed for extended periods of time is not possible.
- Items and Resources: Although other libraries will lend many kinds of materials, some items, such as videos, reference works, rare materials, and textbooks may not be available for loan.
- Non-Renewable: Interlibrary loan materials are not renewable, and loan periods vary depending on the lending library.
